Advent Wreath Making
Please plan to attend our traditional Advent Wreath Making Workshop on Saturday evening, November 30, at 5:00pm following the vigil Mass at St. Mary Magdalen Church. This is your annual opportunity to make a tabletop Advent wreath for your home. All materials will be provided. The wreaths will be blessed by Deacon Michael.
Please sign up on the sheets at the entrances to our churches or call the office at 860-274-8836 to register. A $5.00 donation is requested for each wreath. Please bring a small clipper to trim the branches. Thank you.
The tradition of lighting the Advent wreath is powerful ritual which ties families and generations together. The circular wreath is enhanced with four candles, usually 3 purple candles and one rose candle (which symbolizes he nearness of Jesus). A candle is lit each week in anticipation of Christmas – the Nativity of our Lord. Lighting the candles in darkness is a meaningful experience and delivers the strong message that Christ is the light of the world.

Holy Disciples Social Justice Ministry is sponsoring the 2024 Giving Tree Program
This is a wonderful way for your family to share the gift of the Season with others in our community who are in need. Those Agencies we are assisting are: Carolyn’s Place, St. Vincent DePaul Mission, Apple Rehab, Center Pleasant View Manor, and Watertown Social Services.
The Giving Tree will be set up in both Churches on November 16. The tree will be filled with tags. Each tag will list the recipient Agency on one side and the requested gift on the other side. Please take a tag. Purchase the gift listed on the back of the ornament tag. Return the gift and tape the tag onto the gift so we know which Agency will receive the item.
DO NOT WRAP ANY OF THE DONATED GIFTS. ALL WRAPPINGS WILL BE REMOVED.
We ask that you return the GIFT CARDS to either Church no later than Sunday December 1.
We ask that you return the GIFT ITEMS to either Church no later than Sunday December 15/16.
